Is this a Rapid Response Unit?

Mercedes Sprinter with Rosenbauer body, I think this could be a Rescue Unit.
(sorry for my lack of information, I lost my notes for this day)

Hi Andy,

Yes, those are 'SIV' vehicles, Snel Inzetbaar Voertuig, as you say it 'Rapid Response Vehicle'. For every firestation there are different policy's when and how to deploy those SIV's.

For example: Volunteers at firestations come from there home or work. The first two on the station will deploy inmediately with the siv, and the next 4 will deploy with the 'normal' firetruck, the TAS (tankautospuit).

At other stations only the SIV will deploy, and when fire is confirmed, there will be an second alarm for a 'normal' firetruck (TAS).

And... there are more different policy's, they differ from station to station.

Mercedes 3343 Actros Haakarmvoertuigen with container. I do not know what type of container this is, perhaps a High Volume Pump?

We then travelled to Den Haag and to Leischenveen (?) station to see the Rescue Crane (Kraanwagen).

This is a 2011 Kraanwagen on a Grove GMK4080 chassis, it has Manitowoc bodywork.

Yes, this is station Den Haag - Leidschenveen (station 74), with a normal firetruck, a haakarmvoertuig (... I don't know the english..) with a watercontainer or empty container on it, equipped with a crane, called the KK (kleine kraan, small crane) and a GK (Grote Kraan, big crane) as you have on picture.

Hi,
Thank you for the information. We have these vehicles in the UK too - but they will use them only for very small fires such as rubbish bins or grass fires or perhaps a car fire. They like to keep the normal fire trucks (TAS's) for property and building fires.

When I see the ambulance-bracket-thing.. I think it is the calamiteitenbak, with equipment for lifting patients from extreme heights with the big crane.

Next we travelled to Brandweer Wateringen where they have two TAS and a Logistics Unit. They also have some very nice 'Oldtimers' which I will post in a different topic later on.

Both of the Tankautospuit's were DAF's - this is the older of the two.

Yes, as I said, the policy when and how to deploy these SIV's differs from station to station, from city to city. There will be stations in Holland who have some same policy's ;)

I understand, thank you. I think the guys at this station said that both Kraans often go to responses together as a pair - I would like to see them as Prio1  :)

Thats right! I often see them both on scene, when only one of them is alarmed for response.

As you can see here, both 'kranen' in action:

And watch the video of Ivar Gieles at around 00.54 ;)
