One more thing. Where can I find more information about nurse specializations? I can't find anything using google (except wikipedia which you can't always 100% rely on).

Information like what are different specializations, how long do they take, when can you take them, where do you take them, ... It doesn't matter if it's in Dutch.

Thank you!

There are or have been plans to change the MBO-Verpleegkundige to "zorgkundige". Then there would be a difference between them. Basically there would be a group "nursing" and a group "caregivers". Nursing would be the HBO-verpleegkundige and the "verpleegkundig specialist (nursing" (just to make it a little bit more difficult :P). The verpleegkundig specialist has some of the abilities and responsibilities of a doctor. The "care"group would then be zorgkundige, verzorgende and helpende.

The "Verpleegkundig Specialist" (VS) is known in English as an "Master of Advanced Nursing Practice" (MANP) ;)

I think the wikipedia on this one (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lijst_van_verpleegkundige_specialisaties) gives you a good view on the specializations that are available.

Indeed, the verpleegkundige specialist is MANP, on the wikipedia mentioned as Nurse practitioner.

Yes, but I can't reference wikipedia in my research. It's unprofessional.  :P

Try to search on "Verpleegkundige Vervolg Opleidingen" (VVO), these are specialization programmes for registrated nurses. Don't be fooled by the term "Verpleegkundig specialist" (nursing specialist), which is the Master of Advanced Nursing Practice.

Because Joost :P

http://civoopleidingen.nl/portal/ Take a look here, this is an organisation that educates nurses after their HBO or MBO.

The HBO nursing education leads to a Bachelor of Nursing like many international universities train people to B.N. degrees.
In the netherlands we have long had a division between HBO and UNI, but at this time HBO's call themselves Universities of Applied Sciences  as both universities and HBO's give out Bachelor and Master Degrees. The focus is different however as Uni degrees generally do not train for a specific profession, but train for research and higher level management positions. Though viewed as separate levels, if you look at it from an international perspective, a HBO and University are both Universities who give out Bachelors and Masters training for different aspects of the fields.

I see. But what is the difference between civoopleidingen.nl and College Zorg Opleidingen czo.nl?

They also have different number of specializations compared to that wikipedia list.
